Don Scott, Director of Tax Services at Welch LLP

Don is the Tax Partner as well as the Director of Tax Services at Welch LLP. He is nationally recognized for his extensive knowledge in the area of Personal and Corporate Tax Planning. Don authors the annual Income Tax Update course, which is taught nationally through the CA professional development program and teaches various specialized tax courses for the CICA and ICAO. He is a mentor to students within the firm that are working towards their CA designation and teaches an introductory tax course at the University of Ottawa.

Gary Donell, Independent Contractor, Tax Consulting at Welch LLP

Gary began working with the CRA in 1985 after working in the private sector for eleven years and has stayed in various roles for nearly thirty years.He regularly consults with numerous CRA auditors on a variety of domestic and international issues. In his roles with the CRA, Gary has participated as a guest speaker in CRA sponsored tax events for some of Canada’s largest companies, provided a special tax event to the Department of Justice and the Department of Finance policy section, and has been the CRA guest speaker for the last decade in the advanced tax program.

Dean Blachford, Tax Litigation Lawyer at Hazlow Law

Dean is a tax litigation lawyer with extensive experience in tax dispute resolution and tax litigation representing high net worth individuals and businesses in all tax related matters, including clients who have been reassessed for: non-arm’s length transfers, gross negligence penalties, amount outside the normal reassessment period, directors’ liability, non-resident withholding, shareholder appropriation, denied expenses and GST/HST issues.
